Fashion has a habit of showing one body, one angle, one idea of who a piece is for. We have never designed that way, and we are done shooting that way.
So over Labor Day weekend, we're spending a day in Chicago making content with real women — moving, laughing, sitting down to eat, standing in good light. Our new Carrie dress is at the center of it. There will be plenty else to try on.
Who we're looking for
You don't need experience or an agent. What we're after is harder to fake than either.
Every size. Every height. Every age. Every shade. If you have ever scrolled a brand's photos and thought none of them look like me — you are exactly who this is for.
What the day looks like
We are not making anyone over. Do your hair the way you do your hair. Wear your face the way you wear it.
The whole point is to photograph women in the state they are already in — natural, glowing, sure of themselves — and that only works if you turn up as yourself. You'll be styled in pieces from the collection and shot in a few setups, some of them likely outside, all of it meant to look like a life rather than a lookbook.
Expect a few hours on your feet, other women around you, and something to sip and pick at along the way.
We'll also walk you through what you have on: where the cloth comes from, whose hands made it, why a piece takes as long as it takes. You should be able to speak to what you're wearing. Everyone should.
One more thing
There will be other women there — different ages, different bodies, different reasons for saying yes. In our experience that is the actual best part of the day. Come flirty, come loud, come curious.
